Today Prolific London will look into one of the United Kingdom’s most well-decorated dog trainers, and entrepreneurs Lauren Langman. She is the brainchild behind successful ventures such as Devon Dogs and Bowerland Holiday Cottages, both businesses have had huge success in the UK and global markets with both brands still currently active and expanding at the time of writing.

Naturally, Lauren Langham is an avid dog trainer, and in 2023 she managed a clean sweep at the esteemed British dog competition Crufts, placing first in jumping, first in agility and first overall. This remarkable achievement reflects her natural talent in the dog training and breeding community. She also represented team Great Britain at international level.

Devon Dogs

Devon Dogs started life as a small family fun business while Lauren studied at exter university. The company has now expanded significantly since its humble beginnings of offering training courses to dog owners on a Saturday morning in the local park.

Now Devon Dogs has its on-site premises for its dog training courses. in 2010 Lauren was also featured on the British television show Relocation Relocation while searching for her company’s new home. Devon Dogs offers classes in person and also online, and also features an online store for dog lovers to buy a wide range of products from dog treats to toys.

Bowerland Holiday Cottages

This venture is again based around Lauren Langham’s passion for dog breeding but allows dog owners and aspiring trainers to stay on the premises for 3 to 7 days in a luxury cottage while receiving one-to-one dog training during the stay.

Bowerland Holiday Cottages has been well received by its patrons with many leaving positive reviews about their experience and also praising the surrounding area for its natural beauty.

Breeding Controversy

Lauren Langham’s career has been remarkable but not without some controversy. In August 2023 allegations were made relating to how ethical her breeding practices were after it was revealed on social media that they had bred 844 dogs in 15 years.

She was the host of the critically acclaimed YouTube podcast “Sexier than a Squirrel”. She no longer features on the channel as she ended her relationship with Absolute Dogs (the company behind the podcast) after the accusations were made.

A statement was released by Langham Shortly after the allegations were made public.

“I am deeply sorry it has taken me so long to come to this realisation. It takes courage to call out your peers and colleagues, and I am grateful to my community for raising their concerns with integrity. My only hope is that in the coming time, I can rebuild any trust that has been lost in me, within the communities that means so much.”

More details on these allegations can be found here.

Despite the controversy, Lauren Langham’s opportunities haven’t slowed down. In November 2023, the South West Tourism Awards named Devon Dogs the Silver Experience of the Year Award winner for her dog retreats, and she still seems to be committed to helping owners train their pets, but she has now stepped away from breeding dogs.
