Eclipso Extends the London Stay of its 45-minute Trip to Ancient Egypt

The virtual reality market hasn’t gained traction quite as quickly as many believed it would in the late 2010s. Instead, a high cost of entry, somewhat unappealing hardware, and a lack of significant software to back it up have hindered its growth. Still, even as a niche form of entertainment or experience, VR has its place and was valued at around $25 billion in 2023 worldwide.

More cost-effective applications of VR are gaining traction, with businesses like Eclipso showing the world how it’s done. Currently set up by Stratford’s Westfield Shopping Centre, the Horizon of Khufu takes visitors on a journey into Ancient Egypt, letting you experience the Giza Plateau and the Great Pyramid of Giza as it was in its prime. Due to popular demand, Eclipso has now extended the stay of this epic experience until 31 October. London’s fascination with Ancient Egypt.

London and Great Britain overall are well-known for their fascination with Ancient Egypt. In the late 19th and early 20th century, British archaeologists-turned-Egyptologists were pivotal in the excavation of the tombs of pharaohs and pyramids. So, the British Museum ended up housing a whole host of ancient Egyptian artefacts, while several monuments, statues, and buildings with a distinctly Egyptian aesthetic were erected across the capital city.

Now, you can walk to Cleopatra’s Needle, spot the bust of the god Sekhmet overlooking New Bond Street, and hail the two sphinxes designed by George Vulliamy. It’s a perpetuating fascination that has also been tapped into in entertainment – just as Eclipso has with Horizon of Khufu. In the world we live in, of course, you don’t always have to go to the capital to get these ancient experiences.

From streaming services offering Ancient Egyptian documentaries and movies to the most popular games at Casino Kings, there are plenty of ways for the British to explore the themes and characters of this fascinating age. In online casino gaming, Ancient Egypt is easily among the most in-demand themes. It’s why Hand of Anubis and Ancient Disco Slot still stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Tomb Raider, Bonanza, and Raging Rhino.

Travelling back in time to ancient Giza

Eclipso certainly doesn’t do half-measures. The studio in London boasts a vast expeditions centre for its virtual reality experiences. With the headset and backpack on, as you explore the virtual world created for you, you’ll also get lifelike sensations that’ll only immerse you further in the setting. Not only are they cultural experiences offering a lot of information for the inquisitive, but they’re also entertaining in their design.

Horizon of Khufu is a 45-minute journey that has you walk around ancient Giza and to the famed Great Pyramid of Giza to see it in all its glory. There are plenty of reviews out there detailing the experience, and they’re invariably positive in their feedback. On the tour, you begin by the Great Pyramid but then get to delve into its halls to uncover the secrets of Pharaoh Khufu, who was entombed within. Of course, this is just the start of the tour.

Given the quality of the technology in play and London’s inherent fascination with Ancient Egypt, it’s not surprising that Eclipso has felt the need to extend its stay. Still, there’s not too long left for you to get your ticket to Horizon of Khufu, which concludes on 31 October 2024!
