Today Prolific London will be turning its attention to an innovative platform called the British Craft House. This is one of our more unique finds, granted there are lots of services for creators on the internet such as Etsy etc., but there are a few things that The British Craft House implements on their website that make them stand out from the rest of the pack.

Launched in November 2019, The British Craft House has quickly become a top site for selling handmade items in the UK. Based on the South Coast in Hampshire, it has grown rapidly since its inception. The site focuses on quality, providing a great shopping experience for handmade goods, and also has a strong focus on support for its vendors.

The British Craft House is a multi-vendor platform that showcases handmade items from its vendors. Items such as tablecloths to birthday cards are featured on the platform, as well as handmade jewellery. They have handcrafted items for day-to-day use as well as special occasions such as birthdays and weddings. The British Craft House has an excellent selection of goods for its customers.

The Application-Based System

The British Craft House use an application-based system that ensures only high-quality designs are selected to be sold on the platform. Each shop gets its web address, making it a simple alternative for sellers and creators who want an online presence without setting up their websites. This allows vendors to focus on what they do best which is create fantastic handmade goods, instead of worrying about maintaining and monitoring a web domain. Being listed on the British Craft House also brings more eyes to vendors’ products that they may not get unless they invest heavily in marketing, and this is not always possible as it is a costly process, especially for sole traders.

What Makes The British Craft House Special

The British Craft House stands out because of its support hub for sellers. The business promotes a friendly environment that helps creators connect, network, and learn. Sellers can join in breakfast Zoom meetings, networking weekends, webinars, and more, providing opportunities for growth for its clients which in tandem means better products for buyers using the service.

They have taken lots of steps to help put small businesses (some that aren’t even listed on the platform) and this effort to lift others up has resonated with the community. The goods on offer are fantastic as well, some of the engraved silver bangles showcased on the website are of such high quality they would not look out of place in a high-street jewellery store.

Award Winning Service

Since its launch, The British Craft House has won several awards, including the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, The Micro Business Awards, and the Federation of Small Businesses. In 2022, it was selected as one of only 12 businesses across Britain to attend the Downing Street Festive Showcase, highlighting over 200 sellers in this prestigious event. The support network provided to its sellers was one of the major reasons they received these awards which goes to show if you value the people using your platform then you as a business will reap the rewards.
